dear makenzie rye.
happy YOU day. its a YOU day because YOU made today a ME day. a happy mothers day.
thank you for making me a mommy. you are the only one who could ever say that.
you are my first. my most amazing. my most beautiful. daughter whom i adore.
you are mine. and. someday i will get to finish this love story. i will get to hold you, love you, kiss you and continue this journey of being your mama. we wont miss a second baby. it will be like minutes passed. oh how great that day will be. i want that day more than i could want anything else. i want/need/long for you.
the emotion cant be put into words. the only thing i can say is thank you for being mine. thank you for coming in my life. thank you for letting me be your mom.
as much as i want you to come hold me. today. all i can ask of you is to play. run and jump. sing and dance. find a new friend. spin in circles and don't think about a thing. soak up the sun and know you will never have to stop. be happy. be free. take a breath and live.

we brought you lunch today

and a few dozen balloons

we laughed, talked, cried and took a mini nap with you.

we sent you lots of kisses

i dream of you everyday. i pray your happy. i believe your free.
that's all i could ask for today. you have given me more than i could ever ask for in a lifetime.
I'm missing you terribly. my arms are heavy without you in them. the tears come without warning and never seem to stop- but- to know your in heaven gives me enough strength to keep breathing.
i love you more than you could ever imagine.
love you mrw
love you forever and ever
happy YOU day!
love... Mom

Kendra- We have never met but I stumbled across your blog a few months ago and have been reading ever since. I have wanted to leave comments in the past but never thought it was appropriate. However, I found myself thinking a lot about you and your sweet Makenzie yesterday and just wanted to say Happy Mother's Day to you. I think about your story everyday and because of it I strive to be a better mom, sister, friend, wife, etc. Thank you for being such a great example, even to a stranger like me.

You are a remarkable Mother! You make me be a better mom because so many of us (before we were introduced to your story) took our children for granted. I never knew to enjoy the little things, such as blowing little fart noises on their tummies lol. Thank you for sharing your story with us. May god continue strengthening you each and every day.

Kendra,
Once again you amaze me! I hope yesterday was a day filled with love...what a loving way to think of Kenzie, making it 'her day' too. You are so right, we wouldn't be Mom's without them so it truly is their day...and I am glad you were able to see the sun shining and know she is in Heaven, soaking it up, sending you love, laughing and dancing. That is true because of you, because you are selfless and a loving Mom...thanks for being you and sharing your story and your sweet Kenzie with us. Love and hugs, Em

Kendra, I read this poem on one of my friends' blogs the other day. She has a son with SMA and she just had a baby that had low muscle tone that only lived for 23 days. Anyway, she blogged this and I thought it was so sweet and would share:

A sweet little child, at a party one day,
discovered a broken one and with a smile said,
"I'll take it you see, I know my Daddy can fix anything,
and soon it will be good as new."
And once perhaps, in Heaven one day,
when bodies were being given away,
A sweet little child, discovered a broken one,
and with a smile said,
"I'll take it, you see, I know my Father can
fix anything and someday it will be,
good as new."

My friend is Gayle Johnson, and their blog is lennandgayle.blogspot.com
